Beat the Summer Slide: AoPS Academy Brings Math, Science, and Language Arts Magic to Sugar Land!

Hey Houston moms! Are you looking for a way to keep your kids engaged, challenged, and having fun this summer? We are thrilled to announce that the Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) is officially coming to Houston, launching their brand-new AoPS Academy in Sugar Land just in time for Summer 2026!

If you are tired of the standard summer workbook routine, AoPS Academy offers highly engaging and rigorous academic enrichment courses in Math, Science, and Language Arts for students in grades 1–12.

Why We Love the AoPS Philosophy

What makes AoPS so special? Founder Richard Rusczyk believes that we often hide the true beauty of math from children by treating it merely as arithmetic, rather than teaching them that math is actually a creative discipline centered around discovery. Instead of just handing kids a stack of formulas to memorize, AoPS teaches students how to tackle complex problems they have never seen before.

Their programs are designed to build incredible resilience in our kids. By placing students in challenging situations where they might not get the answer right on the first, second, or even third try, AoPS encourages them to embrace the messy, frustrating, and incredibly rewarding process of learning—much like the fearless determination of a four-year-old trying something new.

Summer 2026 Camp Lineup

AoPS Academy Sugar Land has a fantastic lineup of half-day camps scheduled for July 13 through July 24, running Monday through Friday. Whether your child needs a creative outlet or is looking to prepare for the nation's top math and science competitions, there is a perfect fit for them:

• For the Math Enthusiasts: Morning and afternoon sessions feature camps like Math Beasts Camp 4, Math Contest Camp 5-6: Arithmetic and Logic, and intensive AMC 8/MATHCOUNTS prep covering everything from Algebra and Counting to Number Theory and Geometry. Older students can also dive into the AMC 10/12 Camp.

• For the Young Writers: Does your child love to tell stories? They can join the Writing Camp 3-4: Creative Writing in the mornings or the Writing Camp 5-6: Language Arts Triathlon in the afternoons.

• For the Future Scientists: Middle schoolers can get a head start on their STEM goals with the morning Middle School Science Contests camp.
